Twenty strides away from the gates of the Fort lay a small stone building. The tour guides liked to say that in civil war times it was a storage room and ignored the people who said that having a storage room outside of the Fort was a stupid idea.
Inside there were no furnishings and the windows had been boarded up. In one corner of the room a little girl was wrapped in blankets shivering in the cold and occasionally succumbıng to long coughıng fıts that left her gasping for air.
Bea pulled her blankets tighter and tried to sleep.
