The Big Batman Read: Batman and the Mad Monk (in 100 words)

3. Batman and the Mad Monk (2006-2007) – Story and Art by Matt Wagner

This book was pointless. Every list I consulted to  make my master list had this book on it as though it is essential reading and it is actually awful. Julie Madison, no longer speaking solely in law puns, goes from spunky love interest to damsel in distress, while her father goes mad in a boring subplot. This added nothing to the story begun in Year One/Monster Men and can be skipped with no ill effects. The only thing to take from it is that Madison might be the first person Batman reveals his identity to. Then she moves to Africa.
