The Big Batman Read: Batgirl – Year One (in 100 Words)

Batgirl-Year-One-3

11. Batgirl: Year One (2003) – Written by Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon, Art by Marcos Martin

Batgirl: Year One would be a great movie. There’s tons of action, comedy, romance, and an awesome lead character. The relationships Barbara Gordon has with her father, her co-workers, Black Canary, and her nocturnal allies is well written and fun.  The villains of this story, the pathetic Killer Moth and the psychotic Firefly, are a great mix of laughable and terrifying.

The art in this book is gorgeous as well with clean action and expressive faces. Marcos Martin is very good at drawing Batgirl kicking muggers right in the dick, which looks painful but is also very satisfying to see.
