12. Nightwing: Year One (2005) – Written by Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty, Art by Scott McDaniel

Nightwing Year One serves as the end of one Robin’s tenure and the beginning of another’s. It charts Dick Grayson’s journey from Robin to Nightwing and everything in between, while also introducing Robin 2 aka Jason Todd. Dick Grayson is a fantastic character. He’s like Batman without all the brooding and mood swings. He truly loves what he does and brings colour to some otherwise drab stories. This comic is a great reminder of why he is awesome as it is well-written and well-drawn, showing why Dick Grayson is a character who has had such longevity in the Batman saga.
